Answers to the questions we hear most often about ZoomSphere MCP in Claude and ChatGPT, followed by a plain-language explanation of what the assistant can and cannot do with your account.
Both assistants
What you see | What to do |
Connection issue, "Connection has expired", or a sign-in error | Your ZoomSphere session timed out, which is normal after a while, and it also happens if you changed your ZoomSphere password. Open the connector or plugin and click Reconnect. Nothing is lost. |
The assistant answers from memory and never touches ZoomSphere | It is not attached to that conversation. Claude: +, Connectors, switch ZoomSphere on. ChatGPT: the Plugins chip under the message box, or start the message with @ZoomSphere. |
"I cannot find that channel or those posts" | You are signed in to a different ZoomSphere account than the one you are thinking of. Disconnect, then Connect or Reconnect with the right account. |
A tool we announced is not there | Claude: open the connector, three dots, Refresh tools list. ChatGPT: plugin page, Information, Refresh. Then start a new chat. In an organization or workspace, an admin may also need to do this on the shared copy. |
I typed the address wrong | The address cannot be edited in either assistant. Remove (Claude) or Delete (ChatGPT) and add it again. |
The first call takes a minute | Expected. The assistant loads your whole workspace context on the first request in a conversation. Later calls are faster. |
Our network blocks things | It should not matter. The connection runs from the AI provider's servers to mcp.zoomsphere.com, not from your laptop. If it still fails, tell us. |
Something else | Ask the assistant to use the sendFeedback tool and describe what happened. It reaches us with the technical context attached. |

What you see | What to do |
There is no "Connectors" in Settings | It moved. Connectors now live in the Customize group of the same settings window. |
The list is full of connectors I have never seen | You are on the Discover tab, the public catalogue. Switch to Your connectors (browser) or Yours (desktop app). |
ZoomSphere is not in my list at all | Set the filter to All. If it is still missing, it was never added on this account. |
Connected in the desktop app, but "Reconnect" in the browser (or the other way round) | You are signed in to two different Claude accounts, for example a personal Max account on your laptop and your company's Team account in the browser. Connectors belong to an account, so each has its own ZoomSphere connection. Click your name at the bottom-left to see which account is ticked. |
Claude asks for permission on every single call | That is Needs approval doing its job. Set Read-only tools to Always allow in the connector's Tool permissions. Think twice before doing the same for write tools. |
On Free: I cannot add it | Free accounts may keep only one custom connector. Remove the other one, or move to a paid plan. |
I clicked Disconnect by mistake | Claude asks first, so nothing happens until you confirm. If you did confirm, the row simply shows Connect again. Your tool permissions are kept. |
The confirmation Claude shows before a disconnect.

What you see | What to do |
There is no plus button in the plugin directory | Developer mode is off: Settings, Security and login, Developer mode. In a Business or Enterprise workspace your admin may have to allow it first. |
Developer mode is greyed out | Your workspace admin has not allowed it for you. Ask them to publish ZoomSphere for the workspace, or to allow developer mode for your role. |
"No app actions available yet" | Normal right after connecting. Scroll to Information and click Refresh. |
ChatGPT changed something without asking | You are on the default Allow low-risk actions. Open the plugin page, Permissions, choose Allow read actions or Always ask. |
Custom plugins are missing on my phone | They are a web feature. Use chatgpt.com or the desktop app. |
Members cannot see the published plugin (Business) | A known issue on OpenAI's side in September 2026. Share the plugin's direct link, or open a ticket with OpenAI support. |
What the assistant can and cannot do
It acts as you. The assistant reaches ZoomSphere with your account's permissions: the same workspaces, channels and rights you have when you log in yourself. It cannot see a workspace you cannot see, and nothing it does can exceed what you could do by hand.
You set the limits once, in writing. Tool permissions (Claude) or the permission level (ChatGPT) decide what the assistant may do silently, what it must ask about, and what it may never touch. On Claude Team and Enterprise plans the Owner sets an organization-wide ceiling.
Every action is visible. Each call is shown in the conversation, whether you approved it individually or allowed it in advance.
Publishing is still a decision. The assistant can schedule and publish if you let it. Keep write and delete actions on "ask first" until you trust the workflow.
Disconnecting is one click. Claude: connector, Disconnect, or three dots, Remove. ChatGPT: plugin page, three dots, Disconnect or Delete. Revoke the access in your ZoomSphere account settings as well if you want to be thorough.
Never paste credentials into a chat. The connection never needs an API key, a password or a token. Anyone who asks you for one is not us.
Working with client data? Treat Claude or ChatGPT the way you treat Google Workspace or Microsoft 365: use a business plan with a data processing agreement, keep the assistant's memory off or use separate accounts per client, and keep write actions on "ask first". The ZoomSphere connection itself only ever passes the data a specific request needs, never your whole workspace.
