New X API Charges: How ZoomSphere Credits Keep You Publishing

Learn about X's new charges and how to keep posting with ZoomSphere

Written by Michaela

X (formerly Twitter) has introduced charges for every API call made to its platform - including publishing posts. Because publishing to X now carries a direct, per-request cost set by X, ZoomSphere has added a prepaid credit system that covers these fees.

💡 This applies only to X. All other social networks connected to ZoomSphere continue to work exactly as before, at no additional cost.

What changed

X moved to a usage-based (pay-per-use) API model. Instead of a flat fee, X now bills for each individual API request your account makes. Publishing a post with and without a link, and reading analytics are all billed separately by X.

As the requirements for publishing to X continue to evolve, we are introducing a credit-based model for X publishing. This ensures that X remains fully supported within ZoomSphere while keeping subscription plans unchanged for the majority of users.

How much X charges

The following rates are set by X and apply per request.

1 credit = $1.

Action

X price per request

Standard post

$0.015

Post with a link

$0.20

Reading data/Analytics

from $0.005

💡 Posts that include a link are significantly more expensive - X increased this rate by roughly 1,900%. If you frequently publish link posts to X, your credit consumption will be higher, so it's worth keeping this in mind when planning content.

How credits work

Your X API credit balance lives in SettingsBilling. Each time ZoomSphere publishes to X (or reads X data on your behalf), the corresponding amount is deducted from your balance based on X's rates above.

  • Credits are used only for X. No other network draws from this balance.

  • If your balance is sufficient, publishing to X happens automatically as scheduled.

  • If your balance runs out, publishing to X will be paused until you top up.

👉 ZoomSphere gives you 5 free credits every month!

Every team will have 5 credits free of charge available at the beginning of every billing period.

As an example, with 5 free credits you can create:

  • 25x posts with a link

  • 333x posts without a link

  • 10x posts with a link and 200x posts without a link

  • 20x posts with a link and 66x posts without a link

How to top up your credits (credit card)

  1. Navigate to your Administrator Account's Settings → Billing.

  2. Find the Credits section and click Purchase Credits.

  3. Select the amount and click Continue to Payment.

  4. Your Credits will be added to your balance. 🙌🏼

Your balance updates immediately and X publishing resumes as soon as credit is available. You can top up at any time, and we recommend keeping a back-up balance so scheduled posts to X are never interrupted.

💡 Tip: To estimate how much credit you need, multiply your expected monthly X posts by the rates above - and remember that posts with links cost $0.20 each. If you're unsure, our support team can help you estimate based on your typical posting volume.

No mark-up from ZoomSphere

ZoomSphere does not add any mark-up to these charges. Credits are deducted at exactly the rate X charges. We have no plans to profit from this in the future; it is a direct reimbursement of the fees X now requires.

FAQ

Does this affect Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, or other networks?

No. The change applies only to X. Every other network publishes normally at no extra charge.

Does ZoomSphere make money on these credits?

No. Credits are charged at X's exact rates with zero markup.

What happens if I run out of credit?

Only your X publishing pauses. All other networks are unaffected. Top up in Settings → Billing to resume.

Why are some posts more expensive than others?

X charges much more for posts that contain a link ($0.20 per post) than for standard posts (~$0.015).
