Threads + ZoomSphere = a fast, conversational way to reach and grow your audience.

This article walks you through how to connect Threads, what you can publish, how topics and mentions work, and why it’s worth adding Threads to your social media strategy.

🔗 How to Connect Threads to ZoomSphere

💡 Only an Administrator Account can connect new social media channels.

To connect a Threads profile to ZoomSphere:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Social Media Channels.

  2. Click Add channel.

  3. Choose Threads from the list of platforms.

  4. You’ll be redirected to log in with the Instagram account that is linked to the Threads profile you want to add.

  5. Approve the requested permissions.

  6. Confirm the Threads profile and finish the connection.

Once connected, the Threads profile will appear among your channels in your Settings > Social media channels. Don't forget to connect it to your Scheduler and give permissions for the channel to your teammates. (👉🏼 Here is the guide.)

✅ Types of Threads Posts You Can Publish

ZoomSphere supports the main content formats available on Threads, so you can keep your content flexible and engaging:

  • Text / Link Posts

  • Image Posts

  • Videos

  • Carousel Posts

  • Reels

Topic Tag

On Threads, you work with one main Topic Tag, which is shown at the top of the post, next to the profile name.

  • When you add a hashtag to a copy, it will be set up as a Topic tag.

  • You can also set up the Topic Tag by typing it directly in the field.

  • Only one topic hashtag is functional – adding more than one hashtag won’t create multiple clickable tags and is not supported as separate, active hashtags.

👤 Mentions on Threads

Mentioning other accounts is a powerful way to increase visibility and start conversations.

  • To mention another Threads account, type @ and manually enter the exact username of the account you want to mention.

  • ZoomSphere supports mentions for public profiles.

If those conditions are met, the profile should appear in the suggestions and be mentionable in your Threads post.

💡 Best Practices for Publishing to Threads via ZoomSphere

Here are some practical tips to get the most from Threads in ZoomSphere:

1. Keep It Short, Clear, and Human

  • Write like you’re talking to a friend, not writing a press release.

  • Use a conversational tone, emojis (if they fit your brand), and simple language.

  • Start with the most important point in the first line.

2. Start Conversations, Not Monologues

  • Ask questions.

  • Encourage replies and opinions.

  • Use Threads as a space to listen, not just broadcast.

Example ideas:

  • “Hot take: Scheduling content saves creativity, not kills it. Agree/disagree?”

  • “Social media managers: what’s your biggest headache this week?”

3. Use One Strong Topic Hashtag

  • Pick one descriptive, relevant topic hashtag.

  • Avoid long hashtag lists – they’re not functional on Threads.

  • Reuse a consistent topic tag for recurring themes (e.g., a series, campaign, or weekly format).

4. Mix Formats (Text, Image, Video, Carousels)

  • Alternate between short text posts, image posts, Reels/videos, and carousels.

  • Use:

    • Images/carousels for tutorials, step-by-step tips, or product showcases.

    • Reels/videos for demos, behind-the-scenes, or quick tips.

    • Text-only posts for opinions, questions, or punchy statements.

5. Cross-Post Strategically (Not Blindly)

  • It’s fine to adapt content from other platforms – but tweak it for Threads:

    • Shorten very long copy.

    • Adjust the tone to be more playful and conversational.

    • Use the single topic tag instead of multiple hashtags.

6. Reply Fast & Keep Threads Alive

  • Replies and ongoing conversations can make a single Thread relevant for much longer.
